Joep Blom is a Rotterdam-based documentary photographer who roams the world looking for connection with humans through their communities & landscapes, to create a more compassionate and humanistic view of each other. In a rushing world he wants to slow down time, reflect on the fleeting moment to create meaningful relationships and appreciate the human being before his lens. In the tradition of the traveling photographer, he looks for stories beyond the bubble of his own world.

His main places of interest are the contrasting worlds of modern metropolises and vast landscapes. He throws himself in the deep end by living the story: staying over at people’s homes for the night, drinking wine & breaking bread, making the stories he tells multi-layered. Shooting on either medium or large format film he creates the images through deliberate collaboration, focus & intention, he is not a passer by but an engager.

For the love of “the image” & paper, he values the physical experience of the work, from photo books to exhibitions, printed work is at the core of his presentation. He brings back to work to enforce an equal relationship between de power of the camera and the world that he roams.

He has a BA in Fine Art at St. Joost School Of Art & Design.

Open for commissions.
